Where did the warm weather go?

A few mere weeks ago, the weather was beautiful; warm, sunny. Total flip flop & capri weather. Now, here I sit, freezing my butt off. It finally stopped raining, although now it’s a cold & windy 52. Thick socks and long sleeve t-shirt weather. (Maybe even sweatshirt, but some may disagree.) How I long for the warm weather.

We went to the nursery Saturday and bought flowers and shrubs for the yard. All are planted but one Gerber daisy. I also bought these cool flower containers for the front porch.

It is sooo cool.  I’m planning on putting some wave petunias in it. I bought a whurly curly for the center of each one.

Miraculously, they have all survived the cold and rain the past few days. It’s suppose to warm up by the end of the week, so hopefully they’ll last until then.

We’re celebrating 10 years married on Sunday. So Saturday we’re going to the movies and dinner. Of course picking a movie is going to be hard. Not much out there that I want to see. I guess it will be Date Night. And—not sure where we’ll head to dinner either. Some place nice but not overly nice. I really don’t want to get dressed up. :)

Snowmageddon? Really? Really.

Wednesday, 2/9 through Thursday, 2/10 we had Snowmageddon Part II (not loving that name). This is on top of the 18″-24″ we got on 2/5-2/6—yeah, happy birthday to me—so I’m soooo not thrilled.

The husband has been a good sport about shoveling. Though I imagine he’s not asked me to help for fear of me getting pneumonia considering I’ve been so sick.

Last Tuesday I woke up with a sore throat. It steadily progressed into a cold. I had taken Friday off to get ready for the party (which was canceled) on Saturday. Good thing. The kiddo got on the bus at 8:40am and I laid back on the couch and slept until 10 to 3—which is when my mother called to make sure I was up for the bus. I spent the weekend on the couch. Miserable. Couldn’t even thoroughly enjoy the nook.

So here it is Thursday night. The cold has passed, but I’m stuck with a sinus thing now. Hello Sudafed. I’ll gladly hand over my license for a pack of the good stuff.

School has been closed since Wednesday. Ugh. Got notice that it’s closed again tomorrow. Which means the kiddo is here until Tuesday morning. Have I mention I’m not feeling well???

Where is Spring?

Here we are at the end of the month.  The end of April.  It was 92 degrees today.  After being 96 yesterday.  Where did Spring go?  My poor tulips have bloomed and got burned to a crisp the past few days.  Major bummer.  No wilting, just the evil, evil sun burning the edges of my beautiful parrot tulips.

On the positive side of the fast-moving seasons, May is just around the corner.  May is a big month: May 5th is the release of the newest Sookie Stackhouse novel, Dead and Gone, and then on May 19th comes True Blood in blu-ray.  I only ordered the blu-ray version because we missed out on the series in HD and I really want to see it in HD. (Uhm, cute nekkid vampire butt in HD?  Definitely!)  And let’s not forget the release of Underworld: Rise of the Lycans.  Can’t wait to see it – one I am very sad to have missed in the theatre.

June is a big month too with True Blood starting up again.  I was reading something somewhere that said that Allen Ball knows Eric is a big part of the books and will hold true to the story (while adding in other characters) – I really hope it’s true.  Eric is a HUGE part of the books.  Really, he’s why I keep reading.

July is TwiCon.  Can’t wait.  I purchased the plane tickets for my sister and I and have us getting to Dallas with plenty of time before it officially starts.  I think we’re mainly looking forward to meeting the stars of the movie.  Sad that Rob Pattinson and Kristen Stewart won’t be there — but hey, Jackson Rathbone, Peter Facinelli and Kellan Lutz MORE than make up for it. :)  And… to add more fuel to my love of Twilight, Michael Sheen, who played Lucian in Underworld: Evolution and Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, is playing Aro in New Moon.  WOO HOO.  Although, funny he was a werewolf fighting against vampires and will now be a super powerful vampire.

And then that’s it.  That’s my big summer plans.  The theme seems to be centered around vampires, although, it’s not something I can help or intended. ;)
