Thursday is the day!

I cannot wait! Last night I read New Moon again. Not my favorite book. I just can’t get into the whole Jacob section. But the movie looks awesome! It really looks like it’s a huge step up from Twilight, visually at least. I’m hoping the acting/direction is a lot better, and the script is more to the book. Those were my biggest gripes with Twilight.

My sister and I are going to a midnight showing. Of course this means I need to travel an hour + to get to her theatre. The movie is at 12:02 and is 2 hours 10 minutes long. Which means I’ll get out of there about 2:15ish. After dropping her at home, I’ll be home around 3:30ish. Note: I am not off the next morning, and the kiddo IS going to school. I will be completely useless Friday morning.

I’m hoping to get to see it again in the theatre. Maybe that Saturday as well.

And after all the New Moon stuff is over {and I will be buying the Blu-ray as soon as possible} it’s time to get cracking with Thanksgiving.

This year we’re having more people, which is great. Finally a big Thanksgiving! There will be nine of us, plus the baby {I’m an aunt!}. I am truly excited. But, there is a lot to do. I’ve got my list together of everything that needs to be done; cleaning, shopping, and made. Now to just get it all done.

And now on with Monday…

TwiCon Was a Nightmare

Boy oh boy. I don’t know where to even begin. Oh, I know:

$255 registration fee.
$350 plane ticket.
$139 a night (3 nights) room.
$20 100 Monkeys concert ticket.
$46 taxi ride to/from airport.

Biggest cluster fuck I’ve ever seen.

Now, first let me say, the celebrities that were there were awesome. Completely and utterly awesome. I got to meet Peter Facinelli, Kellan Lutz and Alex Meraz. I also got an autograph from Peter. (Who, is unbelievably nice!)

That said, the whole event was disastrous. My sister and I arrived in Dallas on Thursday, the 30th. We got to the hotel (which, was like the best pick of the crop considering they were under construction so all their food places were closed, with the exception of the crappy, overly expensive hotel restaurant) at 12ish? We got settled, yadda yadda, went over to what was the first disaster of many: registration. We got there a few minutes after 3pm (when registration opened). Got on a line. It was the wrong line. But who would know that since there were NO staff/volunteers (which were called “Volturi” like in Twilight/New Moon/Eclipse/Breaking Dawn). So we get into our correct line. However, since up until this point, everything was done under the main registree (my sister since she paid her half first), we got in line together. Wrong. I should have been on a separate line. Why they broke us up like that was beyond me. Groups were registered under one person, but when you got to TwiCon, they broke you out individual. Ok, so they send someone over to get my badge. Phew… all my tickets that should be there are there.

Let the countdown begin!

In 3 days and 23 minutes or so, the plane will be taking off and I’ll be on my way to TwiCon 2009. *Ü* I can’t wait. Of course I’m anxious over the flight, but still.

I’ve got my clothes all ready to pack, picked out my autograph item, and have written down instructions for the husband for the kiddo (who is home today due to a horrible cough). Last minute measuring has revealed that my carry-on bag is two inches too deep for Continental. Crud. I’m not buying a $100 bag so I can pack LESS. So we’ll be checking. Yes, it will cost me $15 each way, however, I’ll be able to fit what I need. I did see a neat bag at Costco yesterday… it allowed you to decrease the size of the bag to 9″, which would be good, but again, it was $113. AND my current bag (Costco, lol) was much better made. The wheels on mine are rollerblade wheels, where the ones on the changeable one I saw were just that hard plastic.

This is only my third time traveling a distance and going somewhere that I’d get souvenirs. Any thoughts on what to bring back? I don’t want to get stuck with truly useless tchotchkes.

Where is Spring?

Here we are at the end of the month.  The end of April.  It was 92 degrees today.  After being 96 yesterday.  Where did Spring go?  My poor tulips have bloomed and got burned to a crisp the past few days.  Major bummer.  No wilting, just the evil, evil sun burning the edges of my beautiful parrot tulips.

On the positive side of the fast-moving seasons, May is just around the corner.  May is a big month: May 5th is the release of the newest Sookie Stackhouse novel, Dead and Gone, and then on May 19th comes True Blood in blu-ray.  I only ordered the blu-ray version because we missed out on the series in HD and I really want to see it in HD. (Uhm, cute nekkid vampire butt in HD?  Definitely!)  And let’s not forget the release of Underworld: Rise of the Lycans.  Can’t wait to see it – one I am very sad to have missed in the theatre.

June is a big month too with True Blood starting up again.  I was reading something somewhere that said that Allen Ball knows Eric is a big part of the books and will hold true to the story (while adding in other characters) – I really hope it’s true.  Eric is a HUGE part of the books.  Really, he’s why I keep reading.

July is TwiCon.  Can’t wait.  I purchased the plane tickets for my sister and I and have us getting to Dallas with plenty of time before it officially starts.  I think we’re mainly looking forward to meeting the stars of the movie.  Sad that Rob Pattinson and Kristen Stewart won’t be there — but hey, Jackson Rathbone, Peter Facinelli and Kellan Lutz MORE than make up for it. :)  And… to add more fuel to my love of Twilight, Michael Sheen, who played Lucian in Underworld: Evolution and Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, is playing Aro in New Moon.  WOO HOO.  Although, funny he was a werewolf fighting against vampires and will now be a super powerful vampire.

And then that’s it.  That’s my big summer plans.  The theme seems to be centered around vampires, although, it’s not something I can help or intended. ;)

I’m not ready for Monday.

This weekend feels like it came and went in a blink of the eye.  I’ve been meaning to start my mornings earlier during the weekend and it’s just not happening.  So by the time I get moving, I’m not in the mood to do the things I had planned to do.

Spring is here and my garden knows it.  The tulips are coming up, the grass is getting greener and the birds are chirping like no tomorrow.  Now to muster up the energy to weed the garden, plant more grass and feed the birds.  The most I got done this weekend was buying and watching Twilight on blu-ray. LOL

Speaking of blu-ray, I am LOVING the new “sets” that Disney has – combo packs.  You get the blu-ray AND the DVD.  I actually purchased Pinocchio this way and it’s phenomenal.

While still on the geek topic, The Husband is driving me batty over his cell phone.  Picks one, doesn’t like it, picks another, not sure, picks another… and so on.  There are two cell phones I want: the lotus or the iphone.  I can’t change until October.  It’s killing me.  So not want to hear him making choices.  I want it to be my turn.

Tomorrow is a busy day — heading an hour away to the doctors with the kiddo for a pre-cert exam for the dentist that is an hour away on Wednesday.  Fun.  All because of a cavity and his inability to allow people into his mouth.  Sigh.  I am not looking forward to fighting with an almost 8 year old over letting someone fix his teeth.  :|  One can hope that this week will be a good one, but I doubt it.
