Vampire Obsession

I know I’ve written about my vampire obsession before. I just can’t help myself, especially around this time of year; my only favoritest time of year.

The kiddo isn’t big on Halloween costumes, but normally (ok, for the past 5 years) he’s some sort of Star Wars character. We’ve been Boba Fett, Jango Fett, Darth Vader, Obi Wan and a storm trooper. Yeah, that’s a LOT of Star Wars.

But this year, THIS YEAR, he’s going to be a vampire! Muahahahahaha. Ok, so he really didn’t pick it out himself—it was more “Well, you could be a vampire and just wear a cape!” But still… a win is a win, right?

I’ve also started back into The Black Dagger Brotherhood. I’m picking up on book 6, Lover Enshrined. There is just something so fantastic about big, beefy vampires ruling and fighting for their own kind. Don’t get me wrong, Edward Cullen still rocks my socks, Eric Northman is beyond sexy and Damon Salvatore could turn me any day, but the way JR Ward makes The Brotherhood so protective and gentle (when they need to be), it’s just beyond sexy. It makes me glad I have the nook because I can keep the entire collection with me all the time.

V”"V –night!

Snowmageddon? Really? Really.

Wednesday, 2/9 through Thursday, 2/10 we had Snowmageddon Part II (not loving that name). This is on top of the 18″-24″ we got on 2/5-2/6—yeah, happy birthday to me—so I’m soooo not thrilled.

The husband has been a good sport about shoveling. Though I imagine he’s not asked me to help for fear of me getting pneumonia considering I’ve been so sick.

Last Tuesday I woke up with a sore throat. It steadily progressed into a cold. I had taken Friday off to get ready for the party (which was canceled) on Saturday. Good thing. The kiddo got on the bus at 8:40am and I laid back on the couch and slept until 10 to 3—which is when my mother called to make sure I was up for the bus. I spent the weekend on the couch. Miserable. Couldn’t even thoroughly enjoy the nook.

So here it is Thursday night. The cold has passed, but I’m stuck with a sinus thing now. Hello Sudafed. I’ll gladly hand over my license for a pack of the good stuff.

School has been closed since Wednesday. Ugh. Got notice that it’s closed again tomorrow. Which means the kiddo is here until Tuesday morning. Have I mention I’m not feeling well???

It’s nearing the birthmonth time…

I love my birthday. There really isn’t much more I can say about it other than, I LOVE IT. I’m sure as I get older and older, I won’t as much, but as it stands, I love it right this moment.

Of course, I seem to be the only one enthusiastic about MY day. But that’s ok. I have enough enthusiasm to go around.

The husband has already bought me my bday present—the Barnes & Noble nook. We pre-ordered back in November, but it was suppose to arrive in January, so we trashed it as a Christmas present and made it a birthday present. It arrived on the 30th.

I cannot wait to get my hands on it. But I’m waiting. And patiently. I’m reading a book right now anyway, so I’m good. I did just order a cover for it though. I went with the Jonathan Adler Punctuation Cover. I love the whole punctuation look (although it would have been awesome had it been a & z instead) plus the inside is one of the nicer ones I’ve seen.

So now that my presents are all settled, it’s party planning time. I’m going with the normal birthday girl theme, however, I’m adding a vampire twist (since we all know how much I love vampires!).

For the invitation, I used the doodle’s from Lauren Grier’s At the Bus Stop kit and the pieces from SuzyQ’s And Many More … {Bold} kit. With the addition of some fangs and drops of blood, we have a sweet little vampire party invite:

{*Please forgve the larger invite image. I’m testing out a new auto-resizer and obviously, it doesn’t work too well}

So far I’ve got some cute labels for soda bottles (à la True Blood) and am going to make bloody mary cocktails. I’ve also decided on a red velvet cake, however I’m going to do a cherry filling and cream cheese frosting. I’m using Martha Stewart’s Red Velvet recipe and Paula Deen’s Cream Cheese Frosting recipe. Now to hunt out more vampire-ish goodies. :)
