The kiddo had a doctor’s appointment today. It was a well check plus we had to go over some meds. Anyway, my poor, poor baby. The nurse asked if I wanted the flu shot, so I said yes. Might as well since I was there. Only a month or so left of the season, so better safe than sorry. HOWEVER, I did not realize that they needed to do a finger prick test or a chicken pox booster. Sigh. First he was hit with the finger prick. And this child is freakishly strong. So, it took the 3 of us to hold him why she pricked and collected the blood (and I wavered on passing out). Then Doogie Howser came in. I swear. He had to be under 20. There is NO way he was older than that, I’m sorry. Chewing gum and all. He was just sooo young – and mind you I’ll be 31 next month, so it’s not like I’m that old. It was just soooo funny. The kiddo turned to him and said, “What’s your name? I’ve never seen you before.” ROFL
So, Doogie Craig checked the kiddo out and all is well. We do need to take him to a pediatric cardiologist, just for med checking, but otherwise all is well. Then came the shots. It took the doctor, two nurses and me to hold him still. My poor baby. He sobbed. Sobbed. I felt horrible.
After, we went to see Grammy and Aunt Megan and all was forgotten — except for “the blood.” Poor kid is traumatized over the blood gushing out of his finger. We’ll be hearing about that for a while, I’m sure.
