We’ve been doing a lot of yard work since we’re having a big 4th bash this year. Lots of weed pulling, grass seeding, flower planting, and general landscaping. Along the way, I’ve come across a lot of bugs. Some, sadly, I’m not too thrilled with, like say this big old wasp nest under the pool:
That was not a fun find. Luckily we had spray so it got sprayed that night. (It’s “sister” nest was not too far away.)
While weeding out front, I came across a baby praying mantis. Aww, cute right?

Too bad there must have been a nest near by, because I saw about 5 of them hopping around. Glad I didn’t find the actual nest or the momma.
After it was all said and done, I did come across a pretty dragonfly:

I was shocked that it stayed still long enough for me to grab the camera! LOL
The yard is shaping up, thankfully. We’ve got a few more areas to take care of. Some more border building with bricks and some spots that need weeding and mulch added to it. Hopefully we can get that done, along with the house cleaned by the 4th (so glad we’re having it on the Saturday—one extra weekend day to clean!).
