It’s nearing the birthmonth time…

I love my birthday. There really isn’t much more I can say about it other than, I LOVE IT. I’m sure as I get older and older, I won’t as much, but as it stands, I love it right this moment.

Of course, I seem to be the only one enthusiastic about MY day. But that’s ok. I have enough enthusiasm to go around.

The husband has already bought me my bday present—the Barnes & Noble nook. We pre-ordered back in November, but it was suppose to arrive in January, so we trashed it as a Christmas present and made it a birthday present. It arrived on the 30th.

I cannot wait to get my hands on it. But I’m waiting. And patiently. I’m reading a book right now anyway, so I’m good. I did just order a cover for it though. I went with the Jonathan Adler Punctuation Cover. I love the whole punctuation look (although it would have been awesome had it been a & z instead) plus the inside is one of the nicer ones I’ve seen.

So now that my presents are all settled, it’s party planning time. I’m going with the normal birthday girl theme, however, I’m adding a vampire twist (since we all know how much I love vampires!).

For the invitation, I used the doodle’s from Lauren Grier’s At the Bus Stop kit and the pieces from SuzyQ’s And Many More … {Bold} kit. With the addition of some fangs and drops of blood, we have a sweet little vampire party invite:

{*Please forgve the larger invite image. I’m testing out a new auto-resizer and obviously, it doesn’t work too well}

So far I’ve got some cute labels for soda bottles (à la True Blood) and am going to make bloody mary cocktails. I’ve also decided on a red velvet cake, however I’m going to do a cherry filling and cream cheese frosting. I’m using Martha Stewart’s Red Velvet recipe and Paula Deen’s Cream Cheese Frosting recipe. Now to hunt out more vampire-ish goodies. :)

WTH HSN?

Say hello to my new vacuum:

Dyson Animal Ball

Dyson Animal Ball

Yes, I bit the bullet and ordered one. Thankfully, I remembered about HSN (Home Shopping Network) and QVC and looked it up on there. Grabbed this bad boy for $485 w/out shipping (shipping was $21, not really a bargain, but it still pushed me under a normal price). Now granted, it’s not the most current model, but it came with extra stuff too. But now I wait. I ordered Violet (yes, I am naming her) on the 31st. I’m still waiting. I keep tracking her on UPS but it keeps saying, “Billing information received.” Sigh. WTH HSN? I want my darn vacuum. It’s time to put the old out to pasture (aka the dump).

This will be our 4th vacuum in the 6 years we’ve lived here. The entire house is carpets. I originally decided against the Dyson—who wants to pay for it? Plus we were thinking about wood floors (because of the dog hair), but then decided that she’d scratch the wood, so since we’re sticking with carpet, we’ll spend the money. Because I bought on HSN.com, I did the flexpay (4 payments) which is really the only way I could a) afford it up front and b) justify buying it.

Is it truly sad that I’m this excited over a vacuum?

I am dying here

I’ve been recording the season 1 of True Blood that plays Sunday at 1AM. I know I’ve got the Blu-ray season set coming to me next week, but still, can never get enough of nekkid vampire butt (should so be a delicacy!). So last night I sat down to watch the most recent episode, which was the season finale. After it finished, HBO played a little teaser for the new season. I had to pick myself up off the floor. That was the first one I’d seen. So in my infatuation with the series (and the books — more on that to come), I dug up the trailer and a promo videos.

This is the one I saw (and check out Alexander/Eric – swoon):

Awe.some. Just plain awesome. It’s no secret I love Eric. I just finished the 9th book, Dead and Gone, and loved it. I felt it was too short and that she left a bit too much hanging, but all and all, still loved it. I can’t wait for the next one (which I’ll have to — Dead and Gone was released May 9th). Lots of Eric goodies in it which left me wanting more, more, more.

But back to the trailer/sneak peek… I wasn’t sure how I was going to get over the freaking whack job that Bill turned. Jessica’s voice and whiney attitude just grates on my nerves. But at looking at the sneak peek, it looks as if Sookie sort of takes over and helps – and wow. Total improvement. At least in that scene. Now if they’d kill off Tara. She is NOTHING like she is in the books and that bothers me tremendously. Not that Jessica is in the books at all, but Tara, on tv, is so very different.

Where looking at one month and one day and 45 minutes to it shows. Now if they’d just give us the full hour we deserve. I love HBO but this 52/53 minute crap is killing me.

Happy Mother’s Day!

Ah, Mother’s Day.  I woke up reasonably late – 9:40. I spent the next hour or so making chocolate chip pancakes for the kiddo.  After which, my mother called and we decided on and booked a mini vacation down at Wildwood during August.  Nothing grandiose, but we were able to grab 2 nights at a motel with a pool and within a one block walk from the beach/boardwalk.  What was suppose to be a 4 adult 1 child escape is down to grandma, mom and child. ;)

I was given my other gift today (the first being a pair of sneakers that may have to go back – they are opened backed and apparently my left foot is a tad longer than my right, go figure).

I was given the reserve card for the XBOX 360 Ghostbusters game, due out 6.16.09. :) I can’t wait for this game! Being able to fight the Stay Puft Marshmallow guy?! Pure heaven.

After some computer catching-up, I ran to the store to grab some more yogurt (uhm, pleasant MD surprise – down 5 pounds since last Thursday) and headed back home only to run back out to the tennis courts with the kiddo and husband. Not that any of us play, lol, but the kiddo has been itching to go, so we went. And tennis in croc flip-flops takes talent, people, pure talent. Once the kiddo had enough (or more so, *I* had enough of the whining about not being able to hit the ball) we headed back home for some quick BBQ before the husband left for work. We walked away from the courts with one minor injury – not bad!

It’s official – I’m addicted to a small dragon.

I’m addicted to the stupid Slide Super Pets. Sigh. I love my small Ishkabibble though. My, how he’s grown. ;)  Do you know that I’ve even bought (yes, with actually real money) items for him?  See that bunny in the floor?  Bought him.  The fish tank?  Bought it.  WAIT until you see my next Easter-y layout I’ve got planned.  I spent all my “money” on Easter stuff, along with real money on some toys.

Now mind you, it isn’t a living creature, but I just can’t bring myself to stop taking care of it.  Or, gasp, trade him in!

And besides, since I’m stuck inside working all day, this is sort of the adult version of playing with dolls. :)
